Kathy Read, Director of Family Ministries is originally from Old Greenwich, Conn., Kathy Read “washed ashore” on Cape Cod in 1998. She and her son, Connor, who is a senior at Sturgis Charter Public School, live in Yarmouth Port with two rather demanding cats. Kathy’s “faith journey” has taken her from the Roman Catholicism of her childhood to the mighty fortress of ELCA Lutheranism. She gives her mother, a lifelong Episcopalian, most of the credit for her current position here at St. Mary’s. A member of Christ Church in Greenwich, Conn., Virginia Reed had her Education for Ministry group praying for her oldest daughter to “find her niche.” In addition to writing, travel, swimming and biking, Kathy enjoys all kinds of word, card and board games (with the possible exception of “Twister”). She received her Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, and is looking forward to putting her faith into action here at St. Mary’s.

Jon F. Ferguson, Maintenance Supervisor, was born in Albany NY and graduated from Bethlehem Central High school class of ’58. He worked in a gas station for a year before enlisting in the Air Force. Jon spent his entire career in the strategic air command on long range bombers. After the first three years he cross-trained into computers. Jon was sent to Alaska for three years. When his tour finished, an opportunity came to join a friend in a startup company. Systomation Inc made test equipment and Laser drilling machines for large industry. The company ran into an economic slow down in the mid ‘70s. This was the only time in Jon's life that he spent time out of work. Big house, three kids, two cars, two horses, and no job. Thank God for good credit. A friend at St. George’s Episcopal Church knew a neighbor that needed to fill an Instrument Technician position at General Electric, Knolls Atomic Power in West Milton NY. After the security clearance process Jon started on a new career. He spent 25 years at KAPL in many areas of testing and design. Divorced in 1983, Jon remarried in September 2000 to his soul mate, Diane McGuire, who also worked for KAPL. When Jon retired in 2002, they moved to Cape Cod. His family includes 4 girls and 1 boy, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, (one more on the way) who enjoy visiting Cape Cod often.
